A powerful earthquake hit New Zealand towards the end of July 25. The tremors reached Auckland but no injuries or damage were reported yet. In California, a minor 2.1 quake struck near Ocotillo Wells the day before. Continuing aftershocks continue to strike Venezuela after the country’s recent major quakes. A large number of people are trapped under debris as rescue and medical teams work nonstop. PAHO says hospitals need help now to manage further emergencies.
