Dame Judi Dench has publicly criticized Petco for alleged poor treatment of birds. The actor, known for her admiration for parrots, accused the retailer of getting birds from breeders who kept them in small and dirty enclosures. Dench called for an end to the sale of birds at Petco, citing PETA's exposure of animal cruelty in breeding facilities. The criticism comes as Dench has been vocal about her fondness for parrots and the ethical treatment of animals.
