Boston called up infielder Tsung-Che Cheng from Triple‑A on Friday. He will take the field at shortstop in the home series against the New York Yankees. The move comes after Marcelo Mayer was placed on the injured list with a forearm issue. The club believes he can fill in while Mayer recovers.
