Virgin Media O2 this week will shut down its 2G network as planned. The company’s chief technology officer, Jeanie York, made this disclosure.
The shutdown will affect older devices including certain smart meters as well as other meters and medical equipment. Virgin Media O2 states that plainly ending 2G will clear space for faster 5G upgrades aimed at boosting mobile services across the UK.
