The San Diego Padres brought back pitcher Walker Buehler off the paternity list ahead of NLDS Game 3 against the Milwaukee Brewers, bringing him onto their active roster. His return takes up a roster slot created by a separate paternity list move.

Closer Mason Miller was placed on the paternity list before the game, leaving San Diego without its top bullpen arm in an elimination matchup. Buehler joins a Padres bullpen that now has to manage without Miller, who had been their primary late-game option heading into the series.
