On November 3, Ukraine's Navy executed a precise strike against a Russian offshore platform in the Black Sea, which was used as a military observation post by Russian forces.
The target was the Sivash drilling platform, where an elite Russian special forces unit was stationed. The strike successfully eliminated a Russian anti-tank missile team and destroyed surveillance and reconnaissance equipment located on the platform.
“The enemy’s reconnaissance and observation systems, as well as the crew of an anti-tank missile complex, were destroyed,” Ukrainian Navy reported.
Russian media later circulated footage claiming a Ukrainian boat was destroyed by a Lancet loitering munition. However, the Ukrainian Navy clarified that this footage was misleading, emphasizing that Ukrainian forces had effectively deployed a drone with an explosive charge to strike the Russian position.
The strike caused secondary explosions of Russian equipment and ammunition stored on the platform. The Sivash platform had served as a surveillance hub, equipped with radar, optical sensors, and radio reconnaissance systems to monitor maritime activity. Its destruction significantly reduces Russia’s ability to oversee Ukrainian naval operations in the Black Sea.
This operation showcases Ukraine’s capability to carry out precise naval strikes that disrupt Russian military surveillance and combat readiness in critical maritime zones.
