The launch and initial data from the FY-3H meteorological satellite highlight the China Meteorological Administration’s (CMA) dedication to advancing satellite capabilities and supporting the WMO Integrated Global Observing System (WIGOS).
This achievement coincided with two major international events: the 15th Asia-Oceania Meteorological Satellite Users Conference (AOMSUC-15) and the 2025 FENGYUN International Users Conference, both held in Qingdao, Shandong.
WMO congratulated the China Meteorological Administration on the successful release of the first set of images from the FY-3H satellite, calling it an important milestone in strengthening the global Earth observation system.
The conferences, co-hosted by CMA and the China National Space Administration, gathered experts and researchers from over 50 countries. Discussions emphasized the central role of meteorological satellites in global early warning systems and explored ways to expand the international use and efficiency of Fengyun satellite data.
Participants also focused on enhancing cooperation and innovation in the global exchange of meteorological satellite information and services.
The FY-3H satellite’s first imagery marks China’s growing global role in Earth observation and showcases CMA’s commitment to advancing meteorological science and cooperation.
