Jessica Simpson marks 8 years sober amid divorce: 'Silenced my intuition'

Jessica Simpson Celebrates 8 Years of Sobriety Amid Divorce

Jessica Simpson is marking eight years of sobriety while going through the end of her 11-year marriage with Eric Johnson. On November 1, the 45-year-old singer and fashion entrepreneur shared a reflective message on Instagram about her journey.

“8 years ago today I made the choice to confront, to confess and to let go of the self-sabotaging parts of my life that I was choosing. Making that decision allowed me to fully live in the pursuit of God’s purpose for my life. Alcohol silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams and chased my circulating fears of complacency.”

Simpson explained that faith now guides her life:

“Today I am clear. Today I am driven by faith… I’m so happy I chose faith over fear. It was not in the fight that I found my strength, it was in the surrender.”

Sobriety's Impact on Creativity

The singer revealed that giving up alcohol eased her creative fears. Earlier this year, shortly after filing for divorce, she told The Cut:

“Every time I would write, I was a little afraid of myself… especially because I was drinking at the time. But once I gave up the alcohol, the fears just diminished. They went away.”

Divorce Announcement

Simpson filed for divorce from Eric Johnson after 11 years of marriage in early 2025.

Summary: Jessica Simpson reflects on eight years of sobriety as a transformative force, guiding her through personal challenges including the end of her marriage.
