Former television personality Pete Evans was recently spotted in Northern New South Wales, looking almost unrecognisable while running errands. Once a polished TV chef known for his sharp suits and tidy appearance, he now presents a distinctly different image — barefoot, bare-chested, wearing worn shorts, a hippy-style hairstyle, and carrying a floral tote bag.
Evans rose to prominence as a star of the cooking show My Kitchen Rules (MKR), but after a string of controversies involving his vocal opposition to vaccines and promotion of fringe theories, he largely withdrew from the public eye.
Despite years of low profile, Evans appears to be seeking a way back into the spotlight. In March, he claimed on social media that he had met with US President Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk, joining US Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the "Make America Healthy Again" initiative.
He also appeared on American television with commentator Ed Henry, where he discussed his experience of being cancelled in Australia.
“I used to host Australia’s number one commercial TV show for many, many years,” Evans said. “And when Covid came around, I was very sceptical about the whole mandate … especially to do with the shots and social distancing and mask wearing and everything.”
Pete Evans, once a celebrated TV chef, re-emerges with a markedly unconventional look and renewed interest in U.S. health politics after years out of the Australian spotlight.
