Actor Jacob Elordi, known for his role in Frankenstein, features in the latest campaign by Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta. The campaign, titled “What Are Dreams,” was photographed by celebrated 93-year-old photographer Duane Michals.
Elordi visited Michals’s Gramercy Park living room for the photoshoot, where the photographer captured black-and-white images of him interacting with various surreal props such as flowers, a feather, tree branches, and a distorting mirror. This imagery reflects Michals’s signature surreal visual style.
The campaign features both these still photographs and a short behind-the-scenes film. In the film, Elordi, who became the brand ambassador for Bottega Veneta in 2024, sits in a rocking chair reciting a poem by Michals.
“It is our enigmatic fate that we must dream in time and wait,” Elordi softly recites, accompanied by piano music in the background.
This poetic and artistic campaign highlights the synergy between fashion, literature, and photography, showcasing Elordi’s reflective side under Michals’s evocative direction.
Author’s note: The campaign blends surreal imagery and poetry to create a contemplative visual narrative, underlining the creative fusion between Bottega Veneta, Jacob Elordi, and Duane Michals.
