In anticipation of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics this February, Canada and Finland have introduced their national ice hockey team uniforms.
Finland is entering the 2026 Winter Olympics buoyed by their gold medal victory at the 2022 Beijing Games. This was the country’s first Olympic gold in ice hockey, and the team aims to repeat this success.
Canada has a rich history in Olympic ice hockey, having secured gold nine times. However, their last Olympic gold was in 2014 at Sochi. The Canadian team did not medal in the 2022 Olympics.
The 2026 Winter Olympics will feature NHL players for the first time since 2014. Between 1998 and 2014, NHL athletes participated in the Games. The league stopped allowing it in 2018 due to scheduling conflicts during the season.
With the Winter Olympics falling mid-season, the NHL will now take a break to enable players to join their national teams.
This return of NHL players promises an especially competitive ice hockey tournament in 2026.
The unveiling of the 2026 Winter Olympics hockey uniforms for Canada and Finland highlights both nations' hopes as NHL players make a return, setting the stage for intense competition.
