Aggro Crab and Landfall's popular co-op climbing game, Peak, is getting stranger with its latest free update. The Roots update brings a fresh biome inspired by the dense forests of the Pacific Northwest, introducing new challenges and unique gameplay elements.
Players continue the core gameplay of climbing, but now the setting shifts to towering trees within a dense forest. Climbing these trees is challenging regardless of the size of the party.
The update adds giant insects that actively hunt players. For example, giant spiders can trap climbers in webs and drop them, leading to potentially long falls.
Players can find and eat native mushrooms, but these may induce zombie-like effects. The update also refines the cooking system:
"It's now possible to see effects on non-food items when placed in a fire, though none of the devs are saying what happens, which should encourage some experimentation."
The full patch notes are available on Steam for players who want detailed information.
Peak continues to expand its unique co-op climbing experience with creative new challenges and a mysterious forest setting.
