England manager Thomas Tuchel has named 22-year-old AFC Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott in his squad for the final World Cup qualifiers. This marks Scott's first senior England call-up after impressing at club level and with the Under-21s team that won the European Championship this summer.
"Alex deserves to be with us. I first saw him closely in the Euros with the under-21s, where he was excellent together with Elliot Anderson in central midfield and played a huge part in the title win. Since then, he has really stepped up and is a regular starter for Bournemouth, who are overperforming constantly in the league. He has come a long way and has performed his way into this nomination. He will get a number eight role and hopefully, he can prove us right and show us his talent and personality."
"I just wanted to say thank you. Obviously a very proud moment for me. I can't wait and I want to say thank you to all of you for making it happen."
Scott’s inclusion reflects his consistent growth and the trust placed in him as he steps into a key midfield role for England.
