The Detroit Lions will be without five key players and have listed six others as questionable ahead of their upcoming matchup against the Washington Commanders.
All-Pro safety Kerby Joseph will miss his third consecutive game due to a lingering knee injury. He did not participate in practice this week. Head coach Dan Campbell noted that the recovery process has been slower than expected.
“His injured knee wasn’t healing as fast as the team hoped,” said Campbell.
The team initially believed the bye week would help Joseph recover, but he remains sidelined despite extended rest. Thomas Harper is set to start again at safety in Joseph’s place.
Veteran defensive back Avonte Maddox, who played exclusively on special teams last week, may rejoin the defensive rotation after a solid week of practice and full medical clearance.
The Lions have officially ruled out the following players:
Both Frazier and Paschal had only recently returned to practice after missing training camp and the first eight games of the season. They now have two additional weeks in their acclimation periods.
The Lions face mounting injury concerns, with safety Kerby Joseph missing his third straight game and several starters still sidelined before facing Washington.
