Two key Socceroos veterans return for upcoming friendlies against Venezuela and Colombia, while teenage sensation James Overy earns his first senior call-up.
Australia will face Venezuela on November 15 (AEDT) in Houston, Texas, followed by a match against Colombia on November 19 (AEDT) in Queens, New York.
Overy, who will turn 18 this weekend, impressed at the U20 World Cup with the Young Socceroos. The Perth-born right-back recently signed his first professional contract with Manchester United. He previously played under-19s for Scotland before committing to Australia.
Socceroos coach Tony Popovic stated he “will cast his selection net wide”, especially given injuries to Alessandro Circati, Jordy Bos, Jacob Italiano, and Aziz Behich, which influenced squad choices.
This squad update blends experienced talents returning from injury with promising youth, highlighting the depth and evolving strength of the Socceroos team.
