Werder Bremen are enjoying a solid spell, remaining unbeaten in their last four matches. Their most recent defeat came at the end of September, and since then, they have been gradually climbing the Bundesliga table. Although not facing top opposition recently, Bremen are finding rhythm and confidence, especially in home fixtures.
Their impressive home streak began against local rivals St. They struck early in the second minute through Samuel Mbangula, and that solitary goal proved decisive. Bremen’s defense stayed composed, securing a clean sheet and a 1-0 win.
Two weeks later, against Union Berlin, the Green-Whites delivered a more dynamic performance. After controlling much of the second half, Marco Grüll produced a stunning long-range goal with 20 minutes remaining, sealing another 1-0 victory. Once again, the defense held firm to protect the lead.
Heading into this weekend, Bremen sit ninth in the standings—a remarkable improvement after a difficult start to the season. A win against Wolfsburg would send them into the international break in excellent shape and strengthen their hopes for European qualification.
“We need to be sharper and more consistent in our transitions both with and without the ball,” said manager Horst Steffen, acknowledging areas for improvement.
Werder Bremen have found form through defensive solidity and timely goals, setting themselves up for a potential European push before the international break.
