Fans of the Spartacus franchise know Tarabay portrays Ashur with charm, menace, and sly wit, making betrayal an art form. It’s fitting that producers revived him for a spin-off series. However, Ashur was killed in the finale of 2012’s Spartacus: Vengeance. With the passage of time and some creative resurrection, Ashur returns in this alternate timeline reboot.
This time, he is stronger and commands his own gladiator school, or ludus. Spartacus: House of Ashur brings new life to the franchise with a fresh twist on its bloody mythology. Tarabay’s Ashur remains as calculating as ever, strategically positioning himself against rivals as a new fighter, Achillia (played by Tenika Davis), enters the arena.
