Hayley Williams shares cryptic new single 'Showbiz'
Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams has released the twentieth and final song from her third solo album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The track, titled ‘Showbiz’, explores themes of exhaustion and tension beneath fame’s bright spotlight.
The album’s unusual rollout began with seventeen singles released on a free website, later unfolding into a complete, traditional project. With ‘Showbiz’, the 20-track album is now finalized.
Fans have speculated that the album signals Paramore’s breakup, but Williams has clarified the group is only “on a break.” Despite this, her new lyrics evoke bittersweet closure, fluctuating between self-realization and uncertainty.
“May never happen again / Stings like sweat on broken skin / And it’s never enough / Tastes like the whole ocean / Exit stage left / What might be the end / Showbiz, showbiz.”
In a previous track, ‘Good Ol’ Days’, she refers to herself as “Miss Paramore,” hinting the band could yet return. Williams recently admitted feeling she had been “blamed for all the shit” surrounding their past hiatuses, reflecting ongoing emotional strain.
