Reghan Grimes needed only five points to join the 1,000-point club at the start of the season. Instead, the Tennessee Tech senior exploded for 24 points, leading all scorers Monday night and guiding the Golden Eagles to a 92-67 win over the University of the Cumberlands at the Eblen Center.
Tennessee Tech shot nearly 50% overall (30-for-61), made 10-of-22 three-pointers, and converted 22-of-33 free throws. However, 33 total fouls almost complicated the game, with seven players close to fouling out.
The Patriots capitalized by making 32 of 50 free throws (64%). Joy Kendrick led Cumberlands (3-0) with 21 points, shooting 12-for-15 from the free-throw line despite a 4-for-15 field goal effort.
"Reagan Hurst scored 10 points in her first regular-season game back following an injury before the start of last season’s campaign."
