The Clemson University men’s basketball team launched the 2025–26 season with a commanding 88–38 win over New Hampshire on Monday night at Littlejohn Coliseum. The 38 points allowed were the fewest in a Clemson season opener since December 11, 1946, when the Tigers beat Erskine 58–30.
Redshirt freshman Ace Buckner from Dallas, Texas, stood out with 18 points, three rebounds, two assists, and one block. He surpassed his father, Greg Buckner, who scored 10 points, nine assists, and five rebounds in his Clemson debut on November 29, 1994, against Charleston Southern.
“Buckner finished an efficient 6-for-7 from the floor and 6-for-7 from the free throw line.”
The Tigers closed the first half with a 15–2 surge over the last six minutes, leading 43–16 at halftime. Twelve players saw game time, with eleven contributing to the scoreboard.
Author’s Summary: Clemson began the season in stellar form, led by Ace Buckner’s breakout performance and a deep, balanced roster that overwhelmed New Hampshire from start to finish.
