The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of approximately 833,000 Peloton Bike+ machines due to reports of seat post failures during use. Users are urged to stop using the affected bikes immediately.
“The integrity of our products and our Members’ well-being are our top priorities,” said Márcio Oliveira, Peloton’s SVP of Global Hardware Operations and Product Safety. “We are taking this opportunity to make replacement seat posts available to all affected Bike+ users and we encourage them to contact us to receive the redesigned seat post as soon as possible.”
This recall follows a previous one in 2023 where Peloton recalled about 2.2 million exercise bikes after safety complaints. It highlights continuing challenges for the company, which recently replaced its CEO and laid off hundreds of employees.
Peloton is set to announce its latest earnings report on Thursday, as it works to regain momentum following a drop in sales after the pandemic.
The CPSC strongly advises all users with the recalled Bike+ models to immediately discontinue use and contact Peloton for a replacement seat post to ensure safety.
