Former ‘Wicked’ on Broadway Star Shoshana Bean Shares Why She Hasn’t Seen the First ‘Wicked’ Movie Yet (Exclusive)

Shoshana Bean Shares Why She Hasn't Watched the First 'Wicked' Movie Yet

Shoshana Bean, known for her role as Elphaba on Broadway from 2005 to 2006, revealed why she has not yet seen Wicked: Part 1, even as its sequel, Wicked: For Good, prepares to hit theaters in November.

During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the New York Restoration Project Hulaween Gala on October 24, Bean explained her decision to wait:

“I waited until the second, so I could watch them back-to-back.”

The 48-year-old expressed her excitement about experiencing both films in succession, saying she is “absolutely” thrilled to watch them together.

Excitement for Key Musical Moments

One of Bean’s highlights is seeing the song “No Good Deed” brought to life on the big screen.

“It’s a very cinematic song, and I would love to see it have more life than what a stage is capable of doing,”
she said, adding,
“I could not even possibly imagine to the extent that Jon Chu’s genius can dream, can create.”

Anticipation for the Upcoming Sequel

Bean’s anticipation for the follow-up film stems from her love of the musical and the opportunity to see its story and music adapted with new cinematic possibilities.

Author’s summary: Shoshana Bean, former Broadway Elphaba, is eagerly awaiting the release of Wicked: For Good and plans to watch both films back-to-back to fully experience the story’s cinematic evolution.
