Renowned TV chef and author Rick Stein will visit Waterstones in Morpeth on Thursday, November 13, to sign copies of his latest book, Rick Stein’s Christmas.
Caroline Dominey spoke with Rick Stein about the creation of his Christmas-themed book and what the holiday means to him. He explained that the idea originated from his wife, Sarah, who has long encouraged him to write a Christmas book. Being Australian, she cherishes the UK’s festive traditions.
“My wife has said for years ‘I think you should do a Christmas book’. She loves Christmas living here in the UK.”
Reflecting on the memories and recipes associated with Christmas made the project feel natural and deeply meaningful to him.
Rick Stein shared that for him, Christmas centers around the food — turkey, glazed ham, chutneys, jams, and mulled wines. Beyond the culinary delights, he has a fondness for Christmas music.
“I’ve always loved carols and carol services. There’s a section in the book about Christmas No 1’s!”
He believes the festive spirit resonates strongly even on the UK’s often rainy winters.
Rick Stein’s new book is a heartfelt celebration of cherished Christmas traditions, blending family memories, festive recipes, and classic holiday music.
