After netting 21 goals last season, the 33-year-old veteran winger Brendan Gallagher has faced challenges finding the back of the net this season.
Last year, Gallagher ranked third in goals for the Canadiens with 21, behind Cole Caufield (37) and Nick Suzuki (30). However, after a 5-4 shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday, he had yet to score in 13 games this season. In contrast, last season he had already scored five goals after 13 games and seven goals after 15.
Despite this, Gallagher managed seven assists in those 13 games, raising questions about the impact of his recent goal drought.
This issue is explored in a Hockey Inside/Out bonus episode, where The Gazette’s Stu Cowan is joined by former Canadiens teammates and 1986 Stanley Cup champions Chris Nilan and Rick Green to discuss Gallagher’s contributions beyond goal-scoring.
Two more bonus episodes will be released in the coming days. Fans who haven't already are encouraged to subscribe to the Hockey Inside/Out YouTube channel.
