Netflix shared the first look at Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, an animated spinoff that reimagines iconic characters like Eleven, Hopper, and Will Byers with new voices and styles. The series takes place between seasons two and three of the original show.
The story returns to Hawkins, where the group faces fresh mysteries and unexpected dangers from the Upside Down. Though fans thought things had quieted down, the upcoming adventure proves the opposite.
This spinoff marks a shift from live action to animation, with visuals inspired by Netflix’s Arcane. According to the Duffer brothers, the design aims to capture the spirit of a classic 1980s cartoon.
“We wanted it to evoke the feeling of an ’80s cartoon,” explained the Duffers in a behind-the-scenes video.
The teaser doesn’t reveal much of the storyline but promises nostalgic humor and new threats from the Upside Down as the Hawkins kids stumble into more chaos.
All this comes as the flagship series prepares to conclude with season five, premiering on Thanksgiving and finishing with a New Year’s Eve finale. Despite the ending, Netflix is clearly building the foundation for an extended franchise.
Author’s Summary: Netflix revives Hawkins with an ’80s-inspired animated series bridging seasons two and three, teasing fresh mysteries and a growing Stranger Things universe.
