Glen Powell, known for Anyone But You, stars in the new adaptation of Stephen King's 1982 novel The Running Man, following Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1987 version. He recently shared details about filming an especially revealing scene in the action thriller.
On the Friday night episode of the Graham Norton Show, Glen revealed that during filming he had to abseil down eight storeys of a building in freezing conditions, wearing only a harness that was quite uncomfortable and unflattering.
"I had to abseil down eight storeys of a building in freezing conditions half naked and wearing a harness which cinched me – believe me nothing looked good."
He also mentioned a unique aspect of the production crew's role:
"The crazy thing I found out after was that there was a guy whose only job was to stop me kicking a window, which means he was looking up my skirt all night, I wondered what he was seeing take after take."
Glen also shared an amusing and insightful moment involving legendary stuntman Tom Cruise. The Top Gun actor, aged 63, called Glen to offer advice not only on looking cool but also on surviving dangerous stunts.
"Tom rang me to give me the low down and, what I thought would be a ten min call, lasted two and half hours – he basically told me how not to die."
This unexpected mentorship left Glen slightly embarrassed but grateful for the guidance.
Glen Powell candidly discussed the discomfort of a half-naked stunt scene and the surprising involvement of a stunt safety crew member, along with memorable advice from Tom Cruise on performing stunts safely.
