Chernyshov Scores First Pro Hat Trick, Skarek Shuts Out Canucks

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — Rookie forward Igor Chernyshov achieved his first professional hat trick, while goaltender Jakub Skarek stopped all 27 shots he faced, leading the San Jose Barracuda to a commanding 7–0 victory over the Abbotsford Canucks on Tuesday night at the Abbotsford Centre.

This shutout represents San Jose's most emphatic win of the season, extending their winning streak to three games and their points streak to five.

Early Goals Set the Tone

The Barracuda overcame an early surge from the Canucks before Patrick Giles opened the scoring at 8:48 with a backhand finish off a feed from Pavol Regenda. Later in the period, Zack Ostapchuk increased the lead to 2–0 at 16:09 by converting a partially blocked shot from Regenda.

Second Period Dominance

Chernyshov Completes Hat Trick in Third

The 19-year-old Chernyshov added two more goals in the third period, including a power-play goal with less than four minutes remaining, finishing with a game-high seven shots.
