The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints revealed on Thursday the ordination of Gérald Caussé as the newest member of its Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Caussé, originally from Bordeaux, France, previously served as the church’s presiding bishop for a decade. In that role, he managed humanitarian aid, welfare programs, tithing and fast offerings, physical facilities, and membership record organization.

His leadership experience also includes serving as a counselor in the Presiding Bishopric from 2012 to 2015 and as a General Authority Seventy between 2008 and 2012.

International Representation in the Quorum

With Caussé’s appointment, he becomes the fourth Quorum member born outside the United States. The others are Dieter F. Uchtdorf from the Czech Republic, Ulisses Soares from Brazil, and Patrick Kearon from England.
