Stevenage manager Alex Revell expressed satisfaction with his team’s 0-0 draw against struggling Wigan Athletic, even though the result caused Stevenage to slip to second place in Sky Bet League One.
Neither side managed to score in a competitive encounter that offered few clear chances. Stevenage controlled periods of the match but failed to convert possession into goals, while Wigan’s defense held firm to secure a point at home.
"We always want to win, but to come away with a point in a tough game like this shows the character of the team," Revell said.
"The performance level was where it needed to be — we just lacked that final touch."
Revell explained that, while the goalless result was not ideal, he valued his players’ discipline, work rate, and ability to maintain focus under pressure.
The draw dropped Stevenage to second in the table, just behind the new leaders. Revell, however, highlighted consistency and resilience as key factors for the ongoing promotion challenge.
"If we keep performing like this, the results will come. It’s about staying calm and sticking to what we do best," he added.
Author’s summary: Alex Revell viewed Stevenage’s 0-0 draw with Wigan as a positive sign of strength and consistency despite losing the top spot in League One.
