On International Prosthetics and Orthotics Day, we honor not only the innovations in prosthetic care but also the remarkable courage of every child taking their first steps after unimaginable loss.
Gaza is home to the highest number of child amputees per capita worldwide. A generation of young survivors lives with life-changing injuries caused by ongoing conflict. Despite these hardships, their spirit remains unbreakable.
Through the Global HEALing Program, HEAL Palestine has evacuated 63 injured children from Gaza for treatment abroad. Among them, 37 children have received prosthetics and started walking again.
Treatment and rehabilitation take place across hospitals and centers in the United States.
Each child’s story reflects resilience, small victories symbolizing great strength, and a global community committed to support them.
HEAL Palestine is extending its Global HEALing Program to benefit more children by partnering with Mexico, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. These countries are opening their doors and hearts to help rebuild young lives.
The mission continues to be restoring childhood, dignity, and hope to Gaza’s most vulnerable children.
HEAL Palestine's work exemplifies hope and resilience, creating new pathways for children to reclaim their childhoods despite profound adversity.
