Madrid, Spain – On November 4, 2025, Spanish political parties reiterated their strong commitment to the struggle for the sovereignty and dignity of the Sahrawi people. They urged Spanish authorities to withdraw support from the Moroccan colonial proposal and advocate for a self-determination referendum.
The Spanish Communist Party issued a statement expressing support for the Polisario Front, condemning any disregard for the Sahrawi people’s legitimate aspirations and sovereign will. The party highlighted its unwavering commitment to the Sahrawi people’s sovereignty and dignity.
The only just, serious, and viable solution to the Sahrawi issue is the holding of a free and fair self-determination referendum without pressure or foreign interference.
They warned that attempts to undermine this right to self-determination represent a betrayal of international law.
The Sumar party rejected all plans that threaten the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination, reaffirming its dedication to defending this right as protected by international conventions.
Podemos reiterated its support for the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and to the benefits from their natural resources. The party strongly condemned the “illegal agreement concluded between the European Union and Morocco.”
Several Spanish parties unite in supporting Sahrawi sovereignty, opposing Moroccan claims, and calling for an impartial referendum to honor international law and self-determination rights.
