Tech analyst firm Omdia released its Q3 2025 report on the global smartphone market, highlighting the leading brands in sales and market share from July to September.
Samsung dominated the quarter with a 19% market share, shipping 60.6 million devices and achieving 6% annual growth.
The company attributed its success to key models such as the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7, along with budget-friendly Galaxy A07 and A17 phones.
Apple followed closely, shipping 56.5 million units for an 18% share, marking 4% growth compared to the previous year.
The strong performance was credited to the iPhone 17, which "beat launch expectations because of its improved value proposition."
Xiaomi shipped 43.4 million units, holding 14% of the market but growing only 1% annually. Omdia noted this slowdown partly resulted from the end of China's state subsidy program, which was balanced by gains in neighboring countries.
Transsion brands Infinix, iTel, and TECNO combined for 9% of the market with 28.6 million units shipped. Vivo followed closely, shipping 28.5 million units during the quarter.
In total, 320.1 million smartphones were shipped worldwide in Q3 2025, representing a 3% increase year-over-year.
"Samsung has to thank the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7, and budget phones Galaxy A07 and A17 for its growth."
Author’s summary: Samsung and Apple remained the top global smartphone suppliers in Q3 2025, fueled by flagship and budget models, while Xiaomi’s growth slowed due to changing market incentives.
