FX has officially ordered a new series, a spinoff of its hit drama Snowfall. The show will star Gail Bean and Isaiah John, reprising their original roles as Wanda and Leon Simmons.
The untitled project is written and executive produced by Malcolm Spellman, with additional executive producers including Dave Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Julie DeJoie, Michael London, and Trevor Engelson. Andron co-created the original Snowfall alongside John Singleton and Eric Amadio.
Set in early 1990s Los Angeles, the series picks up soon after the events of the original show. It follows a recovering addict determined to bring West Coast rap into the mainstream while navigating the turbulence of rising gang conflicts and the growing influence of record labels on hip-hop culture.
The spinoff began development in 2023 following the conclusion of Snowfall’s sixth and final season and received a pilot order in March. The series is produced by FX Productions and is expected to premiere next year on FX and Hulu.
