Lionsgate has finalized a significant agreement with Millennium Media covering the action franchises “Rambo” and “The Expendables.” The studio has acquired rights to develop and produce all derivative works, including future films and television productions for “The Expendables.” Additionally, Lionsgate obtained worldwide distribution rights to “John Rambo,” the upcoming sixth film in the Rambo series.
The agreement names Lionsgate as the lead studio and production partner with Millennium for all upcoming “Rambo” television projects. It also provides the opportunity to participate in future “Rambo” films. Furthermore, Lionsgate holds rights to create derivative works based on “The Expendables,” such as films, TV series, video games, immersive experiences, and other cross-platform extensions.
Lionsgate confirmed earlier reports that Noah Centineo is in final talks to portray the iconic role in “John Rambo,” which will be directed by Jalmari Helander, known for “Sisu.” Production is scheduled to begin next year in Thailand, with Lionsgate planning to launch film sales at the upcoming American Film Market (AFM).
“John Rambo” will be produced by Millennium Media and Templeton Media, from a screenplay by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani (“The Mauritanian,” “Black Adam”). Kevin King Templeton, Les Weldon, and Jonathan Yunger will produce.
This deal reinforces Lionsgate’s leadership in action franchises, securing extensive rights and marking a key step with Noah Centineo starring in the next Rambo chapter.
