Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President Ibrahim Hacıosmanoğlu announced on Friday that 3,700 football players are currently under investigation in an extensive probe into illegal betting within Turkish football.
The ongoing inquiry has already led to the suspension of 152 referees and assistant referees. Hacıosmanoğlu described the investigation as “the beginning of a revolution” aimed at restoring integrity to the sport in Turkey.
“If there’s a corrupt structure, we must clean it up together.”
The federation has received lists of players under suspicion, and their cases are currently being analyzed. He stated that within a week to ten days, those involved will face disciplinary proceedings.
The investigation will broaden to include match observers, representatives, and other sports officials implicated in betting-related activities.
“Let’s clean up what’s in front of us and move forward. What’s been revealed means draining the swamp.”
Hacıosmanoğlu emphasized that this process has just started and will continue until full resolution is achieved.
The TFF is working closely with UEFA and FIFA to carry out the investigation.
“No other federation has such close relations – both personally and institutionally.”
This cooperation aims to ensure transparency and uphold the integrity of Turkish football on the global stage.
