The Boston Bruins (9-7-0) edged the Ottawa Senators (6-5-3) with a 3-2 victory in overtime on Thursday night. Both teams battled evenly through three periods before a last-minute overtime goal sealed the game.
Michael Amadio and Claude Giroux tallied goals for Ottawa, while Morgan Geekie, Sean Kuraly, and Pavel Zacha found the net for Boston. Bruins goalie Joonas Korpisalo recorded 20 saves in the win.
Despite being outshot 9-2, Ottawa took an early advantage heading into the first intermission. Shane Pinto set up Amadio on a 2-on-1 break, and Amadio’s quick release slipped past the glove of Korpisalo.
Boston tied the game just 82 seconds into the second period. After a point shot from Andrew Peeke, Geekie tapped in the rebound for his 10th goal of the season. Later, Kuraly gave Boston its first lead with a wrist shot from the slot that deflected off Ullmark’s shoulder and in, following a setup from Tanner Jeannot.
Ottawa evened the score at 11:52 of the third when Giroux’s wrist shot from the left circle slipped through Korpisalo’s pads and rolled over the goal line. In overtime, after a tense exchange of chances, Zacha buried a loose puck with less than six seconds remaining to secure the Bruins’ win.
