The latest Pickup Lines segment features Adam Caskey, chief meteorologist at KSAT. Born and raised in Minnesota as the youngest of three siblings, Caskey’s passion for weather began in childhood during many freezing cold experiences.
Caskey attended college in North Dakota and spent over ten years working in Washington, D.C. before joining KSAT in San Antonio in 2014.
His fascination with weather dates back to the infamous 1987 Minneapolis super storm. Reflecting on that event, he said:
“The super storm of 1987 in Minneapolis. And it was just one of those big, you know, severe thunderstorm tornado outbreaks. I didn’t want to be in our basement watching the coverage. I wanted to go see it happening. I wanted to see what was going on.”
While in college, Caskey built his first homemade thermometer for a class project. Since then, he has crafted hundreds of these devices and shares them weekly with viewers during his popular “Thermometer Thursday” segment on KSAT.
