Florida recovered from a tough season-opening defeat to Arizona by dominating North Florida 104–64 on Monday night at the O’Connell Center. The Gators displayed renewed focus and intensity after losing 93–87 in Las Vegas, led by a standout performance from All-America hopeful Alex Condon.
“We talked a lot about coming back with great energy, and playing with a lot of intent after Monday night,” coach Todd Golden said. “I’m pleased with the victory.”
Before tip-off, a crowd of 10,065 fans cheered as Florida unveiled its 2025 national championship banner hanging proudly from the east side rafters of the O’Connell Center. The celebratory atmosphere carried over to the court, helping the Gators regain confidence in front of their home crowd.
Despite Florida’s talent advantage, North Florida stayed competitive early, with six lead changes in the first five minutes. But once Florida settled into rhythm defensively, the Ospreys struggled to keep up. They shot just 31% overall and logged only two assists, compared to the Gators’ 49% shooting, 21 assists, and five players scoring in double figures.
The victory marked the Gators’ 35th consecutive home-opening win, a streak dating back to 1990 when they last dropped a home opener to Texas under coach Lon Kruger’s first season.
Florida rebounded from its season-opening loss with an assertive 104–64 win over North Florida, highlighted by a strong defensive showing and championship-level energy at home.
