Channel Nine is preparing for significant change as longtime weather presenter Livinia Nixon announced her departure from 9News Melbourne. After twenty years of delivering forecasts, the beloved personality is stepping back to dedicate more time to her family.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family,” she said, referring to her sons Henry and Ted.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
Livinia, who became part of the Nine family in 1997 after charming viewers on Hey Hey It’s Saturday alongside Daryl Somers, is expected to remain with the network. She will continue her work on travel programs such as Getaway and Postcards.
After two decades forecasting Australia’s weather, Livinia Nixon leaves her 9News Melbourne role to prioritize family life while staying active on Nine’s travel shows.
