The late singer Michael Jackson, known as the King of Pop, is now the subject of a new music biopic. In the film, he is portrayed by his nephew, Jaafar Jackson.
“People think they know me, but they don't.”
These words were spoken by Jackson during the 2003 documentary Living with Michael Jackson, which offered a rare glimpse into the private life of one of music’s biggest icons. He also reflected on his loneliness:
“Actually, I am one of the loneliest people on this earth. To be honest, I guess you could say that it hurts to be me.”
More than 15 years after Jackson’s passing, the film gives audiences another chance to explore his complex and controversial life. Jaafar Jackson, 29 and son of Jermaine Jackson, stars in his first feature film as Michael.
The new teaser offers a glimpse into the making of the movie, starting with a scene where Quincy Jones, played by Kendrick Sampson from Insecure, tells Michael that "tracks are ready" as he prepares to record “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.”
Jaafar perfectly delivers the iconic “mama se mama sa mama koo sa” lyrics, teasing viewers:
“I know you’ve been waiting a long time for this.”
This quote echoes the long anticipation, as the film Michael was first announced back in 2022.
The teaser also features scenes of Jackson recreating legendary moments, including the “Thriller” music video, his famous toe stand, and the unforgettable moonwalk.
