With starting wide receiver CJ Daniels sidelined due to injury, sophomore Jojo Trader is expected to take on a larger role in Miami's offense. Despite high expectations following his strong showing in last year's Pop-Tarts Bowl, Trader had limited playing time during Miami’s first seven games.
Initially delayed by an injury, Trader had participated in only 32 offensive snaps before last weekend’s game against SMU. However, with Daniels out, Trader saw increased responsibility and delivered a solid performance.
"There’s a lot of stuff to be excited about and then some stuff to correct," said Miami coach Mario Cristobal.
Pro Football Focus rated Trader’s receiving performance at 60.7 for the game.
Trader is a former standout at Chaminade-Madonna, bringing local star potential to the Hurricanes' lineup.
Summary: Jojo Trader’s recent opportunity to step up as Miami’s wide receiver highlights both promising talent and necessary improvements as the Hurricanes adapt to key player injuries.
