Red Lobster is shutting down 163 of its restaurants. The chain has been around for 58 years. This is part of a bigger wave of closures affecting restaurant chains at the moment.

A few locations are already confirmed. The Palm Desert, California location got the news on a Monday. The Springfield branch will close as well. The company hasn't put out the complete list yet, and they still have not said when all the shutdowns will wrap up. The closures were reported on 30 August 2026. Diners nationwide are affected.
