A stunning remembrance display will take center stage at St Editha’s Church this Remembrance Sunday, created by Maureen, a tenant from Tamworth’s Annandale sheltered housing scheme. At 76, Maureen crafted a beautiful poppy-themed art installation with the help of her daughter and granddaughter.
This heartfelt project, made in the Annandale communal lounge with support from Maureen’s family and the Scheme Manager from Tamworth Borough Council, transformed the space into a creative hub. The display features handcrafted poppies symbolizing the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who served.
The project holds special meaning as it reflects Maureen’s own time in service, adding a personal touch to the tribute. Maureen’s work will be proudly exhibited at the entrance of St Editha’s Church, where she will also accompany the Mayor of Tamworth during the Remembrance Sunday commemorations.
“It is an absolute honour to see this beautiful tribute come to life in Tamworth. Maureen’s dedication to remembering those who served, alongside her family’s involvement, is truly inspiring.”
— Councillor Chris Bains, Mayor of Tamworth
