Hollywood star Russell Crowe ridiculed Sussan Ley’s "stupidity" during his recent appearance on the world’s biggest podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. The Australian actor voiced his disapproval of Ley’s demand that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese apologize for wearing a Joy Division t-shirt.
During the wide-ranging interview, which covered Crowe's films and his family's history with gambling, the conversation shifted to politics. Crowe described Australia’s Prime Minister as a “good man” but noted he has “haters on every corner.”
Crowe recounted the incident involving Albanese’s choice of attire after returning from successful international meetings:
“He's been wearing a suit and tie for weeks on the road. (So he’s) just walking off Australia's version of Air Force One in a Joy Division t-shirt.”
Crowe explained how a member of the opposition criticized the shirt, claiming:
“Joy Division is a Nazi term, and comes from a section of a particular camp where the women were prostituted, and that's why it was called The Joy Division.”
The actor made it clear he found Ley’s attack unfounded and misguided.
Russell Crowe openly defended the Prime Minister and dismissed Sussan Ley's demand as foolish, highlighting the absurdity of politicizing a band t-shirt.
