As the Trump Administration moves toward suspending SNAP benefits for millions of Americans, the show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” has launched a food drive to support the Los Angeles Food Bank and the St. Joseph Center.
The Los Angeles Food Bank’s mission is to “mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community,” while the St. Joseph Center works to help “working-poor families and people experiencing homelessness to achieve stability and self-sufficiency.”
With the government shutdown reaching 36 days — a record in U.S. history — uncertainty remains over whether the 42 million Americans relying on food stamps will continue receiving benefits.
“Cutting SNAP benefits creates uncertainty for American children, seniors and families. To support our community members in need, we’re starting a donation center in our Hollywood backlot to benefit the @LAFoodBank & @StJosephCtr. If you are in LA, please come by to donate food and if you are not, please consider supporting your local food banks.”
The initiative, named “The Jimmy Kimmel Live Big, Beautiful Food Bank,” accepts donations daily from 9 a.m. at 6901 Hawthorn Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90028.
