The Garden City Trojans made history by achieving their 63rd consecutive victory, defeating Baldwin 31-0 in a Nassau Conference II quarterfinal playoff on a cold Friday afternoon in Garden City.
This win broke the previous New York State record of 62 straight wins held by Maine-Endwell of Binghamton from 2011 to 2015. Garden City’s last defeat was in 2019 against Lindenhurst in the Class I Long Island Championship.
“It’s quite an accomplishment to own the longest winning streak in New York State history,” said Garden City coach David Ettinger. “There have been a lot of great programs over all the years. And for us to stand alone is something really special. It says a lot about the full commitment to the program from our coaches, players, administrators and the support we get from our community.”
Top-seeded Garden City (9-0) dominated from the start, scoring on all five of its first-half drives while a large hometown crowd cheered them on. Senior halfback Merit Ruckh opened the scoring with a 25-yard touchdown run. Junior halfback Anthony Asaro added two short touchdown runs, and quarterback Brayden Robertiello capped the half with a 38-yard dash into the end zone.
Garden City rewrote New York high school football history with its 63rd straight win, displaying dominance, teamwork, and a tradition of excellence that continues to inspire its community.
