Does Netflix's 'The Asset' Ever Get Any Better?

I was interested in Netflix’s The Asset (Legenden) because it was trending in the streamer’s top ten as the most-watched non-English show of the week and was promoted as a scandi noir. While it technically fits the genre, I believe not every crime drama set in Scandinavia deserves this label.

The show feels like it could improve, as if a major twist is about to energize the plot. Sadly, that moment never arrives. The Asset remains a straightforward, generic crime drama. If you've seen stories where a police officer infiltrates a criminal empire by befriending a girlfriend, this show will hold no surprises.

You could watch just the first and last episodes and mentally fill in the rest without missing anything crucial. So if you find yourself asking, “Does this ever get better?” the answer is a clear no.

A police cadet, Tea (Clara Dessau), is assigned to infiltrate a criminal empire led by Miran (Afshin Firouzi) by gaining the trust of his wife, Ashley (Maria Cordsen).

The Asset ultimately fails to deliver the suspense and complexity expected from its genre, making it a forgettable entry in scandi noir.

Would you like the summary to be more formal or casual?
