Actor Eddie Marsan has spoken out about what he sees as a class imbalance in the British film and television industry. He argues that performers from disadvantaged backgrounds must show extraordinary talent to achieve success.
"If you want to be an actor in this country, and you come from a disadvantaged background, you have to be exceptional," says Marsan.
According to him, some figures, such as Laurence Fox, feel threatened by increasing diversity and representation in entertainment, fearing it will "level the playing field."
The conversation highlights ongoing debates about class, privilege, and opportunity within the UK's creative industries.
