The latest chapter in the renowned "Grand Theft Auto" video game saga has been postponed once more, with its release now scheduled for November 19, 2026, according to its creators at Rockstar Games.
"We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve," Rockstar Games said in a post on X.
The release had already been delayed from late 2025 to early 2026. The announcement led shares of Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, to drop more than eight percent in after-hours trading.
The delay coincided with protests outside Rockstar's offices in Edinburgh, Scotland. Demonstrators accused the company of "blatant union busting" after it dismissed 31 employees.
Rockstar claimed the employees were fired for "distributing and discussing confidential information in a public forum, a violation of our company policies."
The Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB), which organized the protest, disputed that explanation. The union argued that the dismissed staff had been using a private discussion channel connected to union activities.
Rockstar did not provide an immediate response to AFP regarding the issue.
Rockstar Games has again postponed 'Grand Theft Auto VI' to November 2026 amid protests and union disputes, causing a notable market reaction.
