The summons are connected to alleged violations that occurred during Jarange-Patil’s hunger strike at Azad Maidan. Authorities claim that certain rules and Bombay High Court directives were breached during the protest.

“The summons relate to violations during Jarange-Patil’s hunger strike at Azad Maidan, where police alleged that rules and Bombay High Court guidelines were breached.”

Background

In an earlier development on September 2, the Bombay High Court had criticized Jarange-Patil and his supporters for disrupting normal life in Mumbai. “They had prima facie violated every condition of the permission granted to them by the police for holding a peaceful protest at Azad Maidan.”

The High Court also instructed the activist and organizers to submit affidavits in response to accusations of extensive damage to public property during the five-day agitation.
